If you’re thinking about buying a stairlift, there are many options available. From basic indoor models to high-end curved chairlifts, we have the right stairlift for you. Because price is one of the most important considerations for many of our customers, we wanted to make sure you have all the information you need to make a decision.
Average Stairlift Prices
There are hundreds of stairlift models on the market, so it’s difficult to name a price without knowing which model you need. However, you should plan to spend somewhere between $3,000 to $6,000 to have a straight stairlift installed in your home. If you need a permit to install a stairlift, remember to factor in the price of the permit to get closer to the total cost.
The more material needed to install your chair lift, the more expensive it will be. For example, it’s less expensive to install a stairlift on a stairway that is 12 feet from beginning to end than it is to install one that is 15 feet from beginning to end. Extra rail and extra installation time increase the overall cost of the project.
The more features you add to your stairlift, the more you can expect the total cost to be. Think carefully about whether you want to save money by buying a basic model or ensure your ongoing comfort by paying a little more to get the features you really want. In some cases, you can add a power swivel chair or automatic retracting rails, which increases the total cost of installation.
Basic models are well-suited for stairways that don’t have any curves. If your staircase spans multiple floors or has more than one landing, you need a curved stairlift. Because it takes more time and effort to install a curved stairlift, this type of lift is more expensive. Again, final price depends on several factors, but you should expect to pay somewhere between $8,000 to $15,000 for a curved model. If you have difficulty transferring in and out of a chair, we can even install a curved stairlift that transports you through multiple levels of your home all in one trip. If you are not sure if you need a curved stairlift, call to speak with one of our knowledgeable installation professionals.
Indoor vs. Outdoor Stairlifts
It typically costs less to purchase an indoor stairlift than it does to purchase a stairlift designed for outdoor use. An outdoor stairlift must be able to stand up to tough weather conditions, so its components are weatherproofed to ensure durability. These components are more expensive, increasing the overall cost of an outdoor chair lift.
You don’t have to choose a stairlift that clashes with your décor. There are many different fabric options and seat styles available, making it easy to find a chair that meshes well with your current decorating scheme. If you choose premium seat options, expect them to add anywhere from $200 to $800 to the total cost of your stairlift.
